A huggable air purifier that addresses the overlooked issue of climate anxiety,
combining emotional comfort with the aesthetics of emerging Korean soft power.

Climate anxiety refers to the feelings of fear, sadness, and helplessness caused by rapid climate change.
In recent years, this sense of environmental distress has been rising, especially among younger generations.

Many air purifiers compete in a red ocean of sleek forms and advanced technologies.

But none address the emotion behind why consumers try to buy
an air purifier, the answer to standing out in the red ocean.

Soft and tactile objects like cushions comfort us.
What if an air purifier could offer the same feeling,
something
we can hug, carry, and take anywhere we need fresh air?

The physical mock-up was created using laser cutting, plastic molding, and
fabric tailoring to test the size and CMF through direct interaction and use.

In collaboration with LG, one of Korea’s leading technology companies, the design embraces elements of emerging Korean soft power as the key visual
and marketing points, moving away from the typical white-box aesthetics.

Symbolizing unity and balance,

The taegeuk reflects Korea itself.

Mandu

The form and warmth of Mandu inspired

 the products soft, comforting sillhouette.

Introduced portable and huggable

interactions, an air purifier designed

not just to exist in space,

but to interact together.

Presented a new design direction

for LG, a brand pursuing innovation

moving beyond the conventional

aesthetics of home appliances.

Appears to younger generations

seeking design reform and

trend-conscious aesthetics,

as well as international audiences

interested in Korean culture.
