Nook
A seasonal appliance, the dehumidifier reimagined as a furniture-like object,
addressing three common discomforts of conventional designs.

Only useful during humid months
Nook was created as a design solution to address them.
Three key user discomforts with mid-sized dehumidifiers were uncovered through interviews.
Seasonal use
Easy to spill, hard to handle
Water tank usability
Bulky, white boxes that clash with interiors
Aesthetic discomfort
1. From Seasonal Appliance

Tower to Lower
Most mid-sized dehumidifiers adopt a tower-like
structure with vertically stacked components.
Nook breaks this convention by arranging the internal
components horizontally, creating a slim, low silhouette.

Nook
By arranging components horizontally, Nook forms
a slim, low silhouette that blends naturally into the
corners of everyday life, true to its name, “a cozy corner.”
Seasonal to Everyday Appliance
By adding an optional partition module,
dehumidifier transforms into an interior object.
No longer stored away after the rainy season
Nook adds functionality beyond seasonality.

2. From Discomfort Usability

Slide & Replace
Replacing the water tank has been reimagined through
a sliding gesture inspired by everyday baskets.

Ergonomic Detail
The recessed handle form is designed for a natural grip,
ensuring both comfort and control in every use.

From Two Hands to One

With one smooth motion, users can slide and
lift the water basket easily and intuitively
3. From Aesthetic discomfort

Beyond Plastic
The CMF blends wood and fabric, like furniture, to bring warmth into a technical object, reducing
plastic for a more sustainable, refined look.

Textural Harmony
A herringbone-inspired air outlet,
redesigning the plastic ventilation part
to harmonize with the surrounding fabric.
