A moneybox that turns saving into a moment of play,
a small ritual of joy on the way to reaching a goal.
People have a charming habit of tossing coins into fountains to make a wish. In a way, a fountain itself becomes a giant moneybox, a collection of hopes from travelers around the world, especially in Italy.
Throwing Coins in a Fountain
This workshop is between Domus Academy
and Nottingham Trent University are challenged
to reimagine the vase by adding a new structure,
transforming it into a money box.
Vase to Money Box
Inspired by the poetic gesture of the fountain,
I designed a moneybox that invites people to join the process of saving as
a small act of play, finding joy in the moment that is considered to be enduring.
Playful Ritual
Even for a grown man, saving coins for
an occasional free pizza, it brings
a small sense of happiness and delight.

It would be wonderful if this design could
becomea small keepsake for fountains
likeTrevi in Rome,a reminder of wishes.

it helps children perceive saving as
a fun and engaging activity.

Beyond symbolism, Tosswell
stands as a refined interior object.

The gesture is translated into
the product’s concept and form.
The design suggests possibilities for development as
a collectible fountain souvenir.
It reinterprets the act of collecting money through a witty, interactive experience with the object.
